You'll often hear the terms "grid-tied" or "AC coupled" when researching renewable energies and their applications. This refers to the systems ability to feed the local utility grid when the electricity generated is not directly consumed by the system owner. By doing this, the system off-sets the electricity consumed while the sun is down or is not shining and effectively reduces your electrical bill.
Do you need energy for certain applications and you're not sure how? Consult Dixon Power Systems for our specialized designs. We've built numerous renewable energy generators for a variety of applications. Everything from ground water remediation to solar technology education. Call us with your ideas and see what Dixon Power Systems can do for you!
When researching the possibilities of renewable energy it should be noted that most systems will not operate when the local utility power grid fails, unless you have battery back-up. With added costs over a conventional grid -tie system, battery back-up will allow the owner to store and use the energy produced by their solar or wind systems when the local grid is unavailable. Or if the local utility is not available in the desired area, a completely off-grid system can be designed for independent power generation and utilization.
