Having been in the auto repair business we are well qualified to talk to you about maintenance. It makes all the difference in the world.

Generators are like any other piece of equipment that has an engine and moving parts they require maintenance. Keeping equipment clean is the first rule. It's easy to do and allows you to do a visual check to see if leaves have blown in around the engine, or if mice have chewed through any wires, or if an oil leak has developed. The oil needs to be changed regularly and if you have a liquid cooled unit the antifreeze needs to be checked.

If you are not so inclined to maintenance and you are located in our service area we do offer a maintenance contract so that your generator is ready to run when you need it. We also do warranty work on Generac and Honda models whether you bought your unit from us or not.

Solar Systems require very little maintenance. There are no moving parts. You will get maximum power out of the panels if you rinse them off once or twice a year. While you are rinsing you can check to make sure the bolts are tight into the roof and/or into the rack. If you have a battery bank it does require maintenance unless you have sealed batteries. Again a periodic visual check will alert you to any problems.

Wind Generators vary on maintenance. Some manufacturers used gearboxes and bearings that need grease some have sealed bearings and don't need re-greasing. The blades, new and old, need to be inspected for cracks and wear. Also, all the bolts need to be checked on the blades, the generator and the guy wires at least once a year. Some parts are moving almost continually so wear is a bigger factor than with solar.
